OVS 560

Has anybody had the problem with the OVS 560 where once you push the pan button the screen starts getting fuzzy and goes blank? Just curious if maybe it's an adjustment problem or maybe a defect in my camera.

Mine would flicker some when I was panning. This was out

of the water,so there wasn't a question that it was water

leaking into the camera. I had an ealier posting that got

censured and retitled by the "powers that be" that described

my all anticipated first outing. Needless to say, my

defective unit was returned and I got my money back. It

is my opinion (free country) that these things don't have all the bugs out.

safe ice, I would guess with the symptoms you describe that the battery may be a little low and when panning your asking for more juice from the battery, the screen going blank as a result. Keeping the battery warm is hard to do in winter but if you can you'll extend its voltage for a lot longer period.

That's the first thing I would have checked but the battery was at 90% and the camera is always kept in the house when not on the ice.The camera itself works great, wouldn't leave the house without it.

Does it do this constantly or is it intermittent? Is it when you use the auto pan or just whenever you pan?

it happens any time I push the pan button either on the camera itself or the remote control. I did contact Marcum and they told me to return it for a new one. Other than That the camera has been great.

I had tried to purchase a 560 last week but both of them had the same problem that you had. When you tried to pan the screen would lock up and then go blank. The first one I used for two days, and the second never even seen the water. I am now kind of hesitant on buying one.

2 questions:

1- Where on earth did you find a store that had 2 of them in stock??

2- Your second one, it did the same thing as the first with the flickering but this was right out of the box?? I'm not sure I get it.

I've also played around with enough 460s in the stores because I can't find a store that has a 560. None of them seem to have a problem like this and they are essentially the same camera minus a couple features. The 460 has been on the market for awhile now and I haven't heard any complaints yet about that camera.

One of them came from GM in Bemidji and the second one came from GM in Saint Cloud. These were the only two that any GM had in the state. You got it right on the second one. It started doing this right out of the box, on the kitchen counter.

the panning works fine out of the water. it flickers a little bit but the sreen doesn't go blank. I turned it on last night at home and it worked fine. It only happens when it's down the hole. Gander told me to return it and they would refund me or exchange it. Any other reccomendations on cameras.

My 560 did the same thing right out of the box. That, and

it would flash the low battery message, lock up

and not work. At the time, G.M. already had 5 in their

warehouse in the "defective" location. Mine

would have made six. I was going to just return

it for another one, but thought better of it and

got my money back. Knowing the history of this

unit's late to market background, one can't help

but wonder if they trully have all the bugs out??

I did return it hoping for an exchange but GM is not getting any more in the rest of the year. Maybe I'll have to check out the Aqua View DT series camera.

Wow! I didn't relize these camaras where having this many problems. I love Marcums and have had good luck with one of their dicountiued VS 400's. I think the Aqua Views are a great product also. You would think that Marcum would of continued some of their lower price point camaras. Dosen't make sense to me, they would sell more camaras. Now if the 460 and 560 continue to have problems They will be hurting not having any camaras on the market. AJ
