Andy I'm surprised at you! LOL! No secrets for you... Well ok, my goto would be the smaller angels, or crappie jigs tipped with a waxie. Or some of them new fangled colored grubs ( Euro Larva) or something like that. Next up when the fish are in the ignoring mood would be the smallest swimming raps. I love those things and the streamers seem to as well. Lot of stocked lakes down your way that Northlander and ST haven't told me about??? Who's holding secrets now???

Seriously, if you're in the area we have some lovely mine pits teaming with streamers if you make it up this way. Good luck!

I asume you are asking about winter fishing now as the winter trout season will start next month. I fish them differently in the summer. Live minnows are not allowed on almost everyone of these lakes, but for winter fishing. I like to have a bag of dead frozen preserved minnows. crappie or if you could get them, rainbow chubs. Use your same crappie jigs and jig them with a minnow on it. If I want to just use live bait with a bobber. I still use crawlers with a no.6 hook. I like to add a very small gold spinner a few inches from the hook and make sure the bobber is very small so with one split-shot sinker the bobber just bairly stays afloat. I see your handle says your from duluth. North east from duluth are some very nice stocked trout lakes. Mornings and evenings are still the best times, very much like summer fishing. However, in the winter, if they are in the mood. They bite all day. - northman
