Hey All!

Got my sled out for the first time this winter and apparently the cover came off my auger while in my sled last year and I have a 3" slice in the "canvas" cover. Any tips for repair? confused.gif

Use "tehr greeze" or tear mender. Can get it at most hardware stores. It comes in a blue and white bottle with a red cap. All you'll need is a piece of cavas or an old piece from a pair of jeans. Follow the directions on the bottle. The only thing I've used for 20 yrs.

Otter sells patching cloth. You can also use iron-on patch material. I've used this and it works great. Just put a piece of wood behind the hole or tear and use your iron to heat-up the patch. It looks better to put the patch on the inside.

I also use iron on patchs that you can pick up anywhere that sewing materials are sold. I usually get mine at walmart. Just trim to the correct size and I round the corners so nothing can catch an edge, and iron on. I haven't had one come off yet.

psegriz and Wall Eyes mentioned Tear Mender this stuff is awesome. I used it all the time to patch my jeans and fish house. Another thing that I have often used for patching a fish house is to take a piece of duct tape and put it on one side of the canvas then take shoe goop (I use the sportsmans variety) and apply it on the other side. Once the glue is dry remove the duct tape and you will be ready to roll. This is the easiest and less messy

I use the tent patch that you can find at most camping stores and Walmart. It includes patch material, adhesive, thread, and a needle. I patched my Shappell 3 years ago and it's still holding up great.

I've done that goop stuff too. I'll still use "tehr greeze" though, little cheaper and I've got 40+ patches on a house. Some patches are patching holes I managed to get in patches themselves and are over ten yrs. old but still holding strong. Nothin else for me.
