1 or 2 piece rod

can't think of one advantage of a 2 piece. I would personally never buy one for any species of fish.

Just from what I've seen with the higher end rods is you'll be hard pressed to find a 2 piece...

One piece is the way to go either way.

Just wondering where you got your user name from? My bro-in-law resides in St. Louis Park also, though he is currently in the Army, stationed in Colorado (awaiting departure to Iraq...again ). Any how, he was/is a pro skateboarder and goes by the name Freight Train.

He's on leave for the weekend so I'm taking him fishing one last time before all heck breaks loose!!!

The only reason I can think of to get a 2 piece rod over a 1 piece rod is size. Unless you need to break the rod down for travel or storage, I think a 1 piece would be the way to go. Also, unless you build your own rods (or are willing to go the custom route), you won't find nearly as many 2 piece casting/spinning rods out there.

thanks guys for the replies. i was leaning towards a 1 piece but there was a good deal on a 2 piece so it made me think. got the name from hockey in high school and the level before (bantams). Thanks again for the posts.

One piece is it man. I see that joint as a weak spot in the rod , and there is no room for a weak spot when you fish Ski's! If there is a weak link in your tackle they will find it!I can think of no benefit except maybe in portability.

I agree with Danno 100%, one piece is the only way to go when you are fishing for those monsters.
