I would like to chart this week against the past few to see if we notice a difference in activity. I myself am ditching work at 2 and getting to my stand by 3. The moon rise today is at 5:20 last night I was out fishing and it was big, all I could think of is I know there under mystand right now.

I am super excited about tonight PERFECT CONDITIONS

1- rained over the weekend, clean scent and scrapes need a freshenin'!

2- moon rise is early

3- nice calm northerly wind

4- the boys got to be getting excited!

5- baramertor is above 30" (from what I read thats good)

6- got my new shippment of scent today!

7-10 I get to leave work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mudman, I was going to ask a question about this full moon that will be coming up on the 27. Will this make the deer more apt to move during the evenings to feed because of the light it gives off? Or would I still be able to hunt mornings an have just as good a chance of seeing deer. I'm thinkin I should try an hunt evenings or even during the middle of the day with the rut begining. Any thoughts on the full moon and times to hunt would be great, thanks!

bob. the full moon does allow the deer to see great after shooting hours, but with the rut getting started soon, it boils down to hunting when you can.the bucks will bed them roam at any or all times of day. during the rut i favor huntng in the mornings. i try to sneek into my stand at day break. then sit til 11:00. i have seen many deer between 8:00 and 10:30 . like fishing. the best time to go is when you can. del

I agree with Delmuts, with the rut approaching, spend as much time as you can in your stand, the bucks will start moving more. Deer move around at dark anyway, the full moon is not going to make that much differenc.

Full moon to me kinda sucks....deer seem to move at 10 to 2 in the afternoon and after dark. Unfortunately I can't get out of work to hunt those hours. Next week should be a good week to hunt. I plan on taking a couple of days off to hunt what should be the start of the rut...I hope confused.gif

I guess I was going with what Extreme said Not so much the full moon after dark. It's the fact that the moon is so high in the sky between 1-5pm already and full, it seems the does get up and move around earlier and hence the bucks will follow. So I view it as a chance to see the bucks before it gets dark. But next week should be the week they really start moving. its suposed to drop to the mid 20's and possible snow! I too will be taking a couple days off work to hunt it all day.

My perfect night wasn't so perfect. Started rattling 30min after sitting down, did it again every 30min or so with some grunts mixed in. didn't see the deer until 6ish. Then I saw a nice 8pt and 2 does the 8 was one I haven't seen before and he wouldn't come in to the woods just walked the field edge. Funny thing was he came in first then the does about 10 min behind. I personally blame the squirels. they sounded like bowling balls coming through the woods. man were they loud!

BOB-

To be clear with your question, I would suggest being in your stand by 2or3 and staying too you have to get out

Mornings are great too. catch them going back to thier beds I will get out at least an hour before shooting time just to be able to see them moving and where they are going.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm gonna try to get out at least 2 times this weekend.

Im acually leaving right now to go to the stand, I am also going to try and hunt tomorrow morning - supposed to be cool and not to windy it should be good especially with the rut starting to kick in.

I will give reports on how it goes.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
