Superlines for tip-ups?

Just curious if anyone has tried any of the superlines on their tip-ups. I think the small diameter would be a negative once fingers get numb. Also would worry about break offs as the line grinds on the bottom of the hole when ya get a big un on. I like them as leaders in the dirty waters I fish.

Cooter,

I made the mistake of using it for norts up in four mile bay on lake of the woods. Snagged a couple of nice fish. Got excited, threw my gloves off, fish made a run. I think I can still smell my skin burning. That stuff cuts flesh to the bone quite quickly. It was the last time I put superline on tip-ups.

I would guess it might work if you're fishing deepwater perch or walleyes.

As stated, I think that for smaller fish like crappie or perch you could get away with it.. But I would not be sure what the advantage would be.. maybe if using live bait becuase of the smaller diam. you would maybe get better bait movement. But I think the disadvantage, mainly the possible pain that the superlines can cause. I myself will stick to the larger diam dacron and a florocarbon leader...
