Kingfisher
I was e-mailed to day by the resort we plan to stay at,that the ice on White Fish Bay, LOW, will be completely out today.Question. How soon after ice out can the trout fishing be good? Thanks for some advise.
Outfitter17
I think the best spring lake trout fishing begins about 5-7 days after the ice goes out. Thats been my experiance, other people may have different experiances since of course all lakes are not the same. Good luck with ice out LT.------------------
Eastwind
Kingfisher,We just got back from Ontario last night. we went up for ice-out Lakers. The lake was 95% ice free and we were trolling for Lakers, sometimes right up to the little bit of ice that was left. We caught several from 5# to 10# over two days. Last year we got there a few days after the ice out was complete and did about the same. It might get better after a week but we were happy with our luck. Outfitter17
There are still a couple of openings on pipestone lake this season for early lakers, the cabin sleeps 7 with two bedrooms, hot and cold running water and fully solar. The rates are $50 per man per night, if you would like more info for the watson bay outpost cabin give me a call at 1-807-226-1237 ------------------
Hemlock
Kingfisher, have you been trout fishing yet? I am heading to Whitefish on Friday. From my experience, the trout are good early, peek a week to two weeks, and then it dwindles away towards the end of May, early June. If you are up this weekend, let me know.------------------Hemlock"Throw'm back"
Kingfisher
Hi Hemlock; We fished Crow, Monday thru Thursday, considering the weather we did OK. Being we had not fished Crow before, we hired Grant Yeo as our guide Monday, he showed us several productive trout spots. My partner and I ended up cr-ing 11 trout, had two for shore lunch, largest about 8#. We fished Whitefish Friday until 1:30 PM, caught and released one 8+ lb trout. We caught all of them "shore fishing" accept for one caught with cowbells. Hope you have a good fishout.
Granny
King,We were up on Crow Friday 7th - Sunday 9th. 8 of us brought back our limit with the biggest around 11lbs. We also got 1 pike 10lbs and a Musky 12lbs. Not tying to one up ya, just thought I would post another good report from Crow. Ice out lakers are pretty fun!Later,Granny
