Animal
Yes to the sleds. No one was driving on Crow or LOW, at least out to Hay. Before the snow on Sat. the snow was hard and crusty. We drilled through 8 inches of hard snow, 4 inches of frozen slush, 3 inches of water, and 18 inches of ice. Now add 8 to 10 inches of new snow. Ice is in excellent condition. Animal
Just returned from Crow and LOW. Fished LOW at Hay island Thursday, 3-11. Bright sunny skies must have shut them off. Four guys caught 3 crappie. It wasn't just us as the another group of guys pulled 6 fish for the whole day. On Friday, we went to Otterskin and again has some slow fishing with two trout caught and one big northern. We still had a great time and an excellent open fire weenie roast. On Saturday we awoke to some light snow which quickly turned into whiteout conditions. We didn't venture out too far due to the visibility. The trout must have been a little farther from camp. We had nothing to show for 2 hours of fishing and called it quits. After lunch the conditions improved and we headed to the Gull Island area. Again, the trout must have been swimming to the other end of the lake. The snow started again and we called it quits about 4 pm. It still was a great trip. Ice conditions were perfect. Gissert
Animal -Were you using sleds on Crow? How deep was the slush and snow on the ice surface?
Hemlock
Animal, sounds like a familiar report to the week prior. I was fishing Nestor Falls/Sioux Narrows Friday/Saturday the 5th of March. Crappies were slow around Nestor, just drove the pickup, and the trout were hitting below average Saturday around Sioux Narrows. Iced one between 4 of us, had several hits. Ice was good then and there. Slush is around, but again even pulling sleds we were ok to get through it. Walleyes are picking up again around Kenora.------------------Hemlock"Throw'm back"
