Kokanee

As I sit here waiting for good ice, I was wondering if anyone catches kokanee thru the ice? I've never read any posts on that subject here or on the main forum. Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes, I catch quite a few through the ice. Eleven Mile is a ggod lake for this. Actually, right now at the Snake River inlet to Dillon, there is about 5 inches of ice, and a buddy of mine that lives up there is catching kokanee like crazy.

They like pink! Either a silver lure with hot pink or pink jigs with piece of worm or mealworm-Sight fishing works well for them,I've caught bunches at dillon but they are teeny compared to e-mile.

Last year I watched some guys use a jigging machine with a bunch of flashers to entice the Kokanee and then they used Kastmasters tipped with mealworms. This was at 11 mile and they caught a bunch! By the way I heard that jigging machine is made out of an old windshield wiper motor. I would love to get my ahnds on one or get instructions on making one. Any thoughts are welcome

Thanks for the replies. Is it possible to target kokanees in a lake like Eleven Mile or is it a hit and miss deal? Lucky: post your jigging machine ? on the main forum. I'd bet those northern guys would jump on that.
