Scent drippers - Do they work?

Recommended Posts

I beleive post rut- is best for them. The sunlight warming the container is what starts the drip (So, make sure you hang it for some daylight (preferably morning light for 2-3 hours)). They do work - I would also try mock scraps. Also, might want to put a trail cam to see what is hitting them unless you are proficeint at tracks.

FYI - Strong Human urine will bring them to a scrape. I had read this somewhere but have seen it first hand.

I was just finishing a drive last year when mother nature called. As I was sprinking a shrub I heard non-stop grunting. I assumed it was my brother who had spotted me from the stand and was having a go. However, it was getting closer - So, I picked up my rifle just in time to see a 8-pointer come trotting about 75 yards down the ridgeline I was on, head down, nostrils flared coming right at me - I shot him @ 15 paces, his nose still down and grunting...

I had one and personally I don't like them. If you use them during November they end up freezing and then no scent drips obviously. They work because when the air warms the air expands and forces the liquid out, if it's 45 degrees in the morning and it gets colder the scent quits dispersing. While that usually isn't the case sometimes it happens. I prefer putting out scent myself, I can pick them up when I go in. It's a good gadget to try but you end up using a lot of doe pee.

I know a guy who attracted a massive Non-typ buck slast year and he says his only trick was the dripper and a mock scrape. Said he'd been using it for 2-3 weeks and the deer was coming regularly.

He had his deer before 930am on opener and last year it was -6*F on opening morning.
