Meat Processing

Greg's Meat's of Hampton. If you bring in your own trim, he will process it for you and I believe that if the batches are over 35lbs, you are guarenteed your own deer meat back.

He has a vast, multitude of awards for his work. He's my cousin, and I'll back him for quality.

Yes, there are still locker plants out there that will take whole deer.

Prices have gone up some since the CWD scare, and most places bone out all meat by hand now instead of using their power saws. More hand labor = more processing $$ for you to spend.

This year we cut up our own deer, saving the $20 charge for skinning, plust the 50-60 dollar charge for cutting and wrapping.

Four of us had two deer down to the bones and wrapped in a shade over two hours, and it was fun! All the trim meat went into gallon plastic bags and we brought that to the locker plant that normally did the job for us. I am looking forward to the great summer and polish sausages they make.

Jordan meats in Woodbury will do it. They have a farm in Lake Elmo where they cut the deer. They then take the cut meat to their retail shop in Woodbury. They make awesome smoked polish, beer sticks, summer sausage etc.. I cut my own up and just take it to them in Woodbury.

Mark's Meats in Lino Lakes. I de-bone my own deer and they take it in. Great job on the brats, summer and deer sticks. Also had italian pattie sausage done and it was O.K., could've used a little more flavor. Would have done more brats with that meat. I think you'd be happy. Good Luck! Ken

If you guys are looking to drop off a whole unskinned deer on the way home from up north (if you're coming down in the 169/101/94 area in the west metro) I'd bring it to Steffen's Meats in Albertville. Two years back we brought one in there and it was $70 and we got back a lot of steaks, roasts, and had like 10#'s of sausage and sticks made. They have a J&B Wholesale semi-trailer out back during deer season that they load everything up in to store before they actually bring yours in to butcher up. Prices may have gone up in the last year, but I do know they do a good job and have your deer back to you in a reasonable time.
