pheasant opener

Pheasant numbers are down a little from last year. I have been seeing alot of young pheasants around the lake Ponisett area.

Should be another great season.

I would agree that numbers are down from last year, but remember last year was a record year, so just because numbers are lower isnt bad. I would say that numbers are better than average.

How are things going with getting the corn out. Will alot of it be cut by opening weekend or week or do you think cutting will be delayed this year?

Good question. I am guessing there will still be an awful lot of cover in the fields on the opener, but you never know. If the weather will only cooperate....I'm sure it will since it's been so predictable all summer. Hehehe.

There will be virtually no corn out by the opener. The only exception will be the few silage acres. The soybeans are slowly maturing and are just starting to be harvested.
One little tip: Concetrate on areas that have less crops. Look for areas composed primarily of wheat and oat fields.
