Truckie
I just bought a Genz ice rod and reel. Do you leave the plastic zip tie on to keep the reel in place? The rings that are on the front and back of the mounting base seem to slide off too easy and will be lost in no time. Do you glue them? Any ideas will help. Thanks, Truckie
amateurfishing
can leave em on if you like, or there are various other threads regarding this issue....castration bands, electric tape, hockey tape, your favorite tape, etc. I personally take them off and like the smoothness of electrical tape
ribsey_77
I always remove and use hockey tape.
aanderud
Welcome to hotspot outdoors! I see this is your first post. Here's a link to fairly complete thread about some of the ways to attach them. As mentioned, hockey tape, electrical tape, castration rings, etc... http://www.hotspotoutdoors.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3153656/Cost_effective_way_to_attach_r The forums can be a bit unwieldy at times -- especially the ice fishing forum this time of year. Use the search feature on the left to find other cool stuff. Again, welcome!
harvey lee
I always put some masking tape on first where I am going to use elec tape. The elec tape can pull some small pieces of cork off if you remove the tape after it has been obn there for a few season's.
MNCPRGUY
Great tip Harvey! I have the same pole. Clipped the zip ties off immediately as I didn't like the feel. After one year, the plastic retainers are too loose to hold the reel seat at all. I am going to the castration bands first and but always have the electrical tape as my backup.
