'eyesmaster89
Thinking about heading out to Waubay and was just looking over the lake map. The lake has a lot of structure to it. Where does a guy start. Have they been biting lately. Thanks for any info.
ifishsd
sounds like they were biting like mad last weekend. The lake is full of walleyes. remember limit is 2 walleyes per day!!!!I would start around school bus point. Cast jigs into the shallows, if that doesn't work move out into deeper water and try trolling.
Norsky
I'm probably heading out that way this weekend. I fished out there last spring with very good results. The walleyes were fairly shallow, we actually caught quite a few in the flooded timber. The lake is very large and spread out with many good areas to fish, and many areas that won't hold any fish. It pays to be very mobile out there, but watch out for stumps and submerged roadbeds.
sloughshark
Fished Waubay Last Saturday and again Sunday. the walleye were very cooperative. It almost looked like the waubay of old with my group landing some beautiful 'eyes'. We fished the same spot both days. Fished right off of the old 'lovers lane' southeast of grenville. Saturday three of us kept our 6 with one hitting the 5.1 lb mark and another one that was just shy of 22 inches.(Both Males) The other four we kept were between 17 and 18 inches. Area was flooded timber with a pretty good drop off the old road bed. Had the boat anchored in about 3 feet of water and was casting out into the deeper water. Sunday we got cut short because of the wind and rain but again managed some good quality fish. Many in the 16-18 inch range. I wanted to try other parts of the lake, but the wind was blowing strong both days. SchoolBus is always a goog place to start, some other perennial good spots for me have been Hellewigs Island and also Denholm bay on the south side of the lake. Once you find those 'eye' you will be able to catch fish all day long.Good Luck!
