Looking to get back into ice fishing and it will be mainly me and sometimes my son who is 6, going out. I do not have a four wheeler or snowmobile so I will be walking out every time. I'm looking at the nanook or the yukon and I like the idea of the thermal just dont know which way to go. Any thoughts or advice is welcome. Does anyone know a store that would have both of these set up to check out.

Depends if you want the extra headroom or not. Since you pull by hand, Nanook is perfect for that. I have a guide and pulling is a dream. I laugh at my friends pulling their Predators, etc by hand.

If your kid is little, the house is light enough they he/she can sit on top while you pull. That is what I do.

Exact setup I use. Nanook- Thermal with my two little ones (4 & 6). They sit on two buckets while I pull. Great thing to lighten it up is remove the metal harness and the nice seats that come with it. They're close to 40 pounds when all put together. We use camping chairs - super light and fold down to nothing.

Good luck.

(Nanook)--Its not only a great two man but It makes a sweet One man. This is one of Clam's best sellers.

+1

been my early ice shack for one or two people since it first came out in thermal...did disconnect the seats and take out when hand pulling...

Hand pulling, definitely the Nanook.

Also, if you are near a Gander MTN, and are an Ice Team member - remember with the perk card you can save an extra 5% on your purchase (even on sale prices).

Good luck getting back into the game this winter. Looking forward to seeing a few pictures and reports from your adventures!
