A buddy and I just got back from Joe Creek and had a great evening of fishing. Caught and released 12 eyes from 14-20". Great fat looking fish. The sad thing is the ice is about ready to go out. There is about a 12" out there but its getting rotten from the bottom up. Botton 6" is nothing but mush. Caught most fish jigging, and a few on tip-ups. Looks like it will be over out there by the weekend with the warm temps forecasted for the next 3 days.

You know, I'm kinda close to lake sharp and I've only fished it a couple of times. Francis Case is right out my door, so I fish close to home even when it is slow. What side of the river is joe creek. I know where antelope creek is and iron nation and west bend....

Foster.... just leave it be. You have no business traveling ALL the way over to sharpe. LMAO, you have activities to do around home with your kids and besides there are plenty of eyes swimming right out your front door on francis case. LOL. I'm just razzing ya buddy!! Its common knowledge as far as im concerned that the eyes seem to average at least a pound bigger on sharpe as opposed to case. The only problem being is the travel time to get there and back(and the gas money) On top of that, there is now a law in lower brule called a "access fee". It states if you cross any indian land to get to the river you must pay for and obtain this license. I think its $25.00 a year. Simply put....if you use the Iron nation launch or any other place on lower brule to access the river you will be subject to a fine. I dont agree with it...therefore i have boycotted going up there. Keep in mind....Fort thompson is not that way and if you launch your boat/four wheeler ect... from that side of the river you could go up river and fish right off shore from iron nation/good soldier/ ect... and there is nothing they can do about it. GREED is the magic word when it comes to fishing and hunting anymore. Iceman out>

Excellent angling skills shown once again by the 69er of the walleye! Were you and greasy grevey tag teaming those eyes?? I got on a pretty good eye bite on E-swim last sat. Had one that would have pushed the 4lb mark. and about 6 others from 14-18 inches. Ya should come up with the geasy one for our annual sloughshark festivites, many sharks over the ten and even 15lb mark have been slayed in years past, im gonna try to find a killer hotspot in the next few weeks for them sharkies so we can do some dead baitin in warm shallow bays.

Flags up yet again!

Foster, Joe Creek is 5 miles upstream from Iron Nation on the north side of the river. It is not on the Lower Brule or Crow Creek reservation therefore you don't need any special license to use the access area. The turnoff to Joe on Hwy 34 is approximately 3 miles west of where the West Bend turnoff is. Look for the sign and you can't miss it.

Sloughshark, Greasy did not accompany me on my most wonderful trip last night. I ended up going with one of my fellow co-workers. Greasy and I headin over there tomorrow evening to give it one last hurrah. Its pretty much an after sundown bite so he has plenty of time to get there after work. Ma & Pa are comin out to Pierre this weekend otherwise I'd think about comin back. I am thinking about heading up that way next weekend though. Get them sharks rounded up this weekend and let me know how you did, and we'll give it a whirl next weekend.

Did the Joe Creek thing again tonight. Not as good as Tues, but still caught some nice fish. Caught and released 7 between 2 of us. Ice is still OK if you know where you're going. Might be able to squeak out one more week of ice fishing if the weather cools on Sunday like they say its supposed to.

WALLEYE69, JUST WONDERING WHICH DIRECTION YOU WENT FROM JOES CREEK? YOU GO UP OR DOWN STREAM FROM THE ACCESS? LAST YEAR WE ICE FISHED THERE MARCH 12 AND 13 AND WERE DOWN STREAM FROM THE ACCESS A WAYS. GOT THEM IN 47 FT OF WATER. THOUGHT THAT WAS A BIT UNUSUAL FOR THAT TIME OF YEAR.

We have been fishing right in the bay straight south of the boat ramp in 14-16' of water about 75 yards or so north of the pressure ridge. This is where we've been fishing all winter and catching some dandy eyes. Pretty much everyone else was fishing the main channel in the deeper water all winter. The pressure ridge is opening up due to the warm weather so leaving the bay would not be advised due to the stong current in the main river channel.
