Grouse Hunting the same Cover

If two or three guys hunt a cover or area one weekend, is hunting it the next weekend worth it? With good cover and prime grouse area will they come back to it after just a week? Is it just a matter of the birds learning and getting "smarter" about hunters hunting it?

Yes its fine to hunt that same area again. I haven't really noticed that birds will move out of an area due to pressure. What they will do is become a lot spookier and flush a lot sooner the more they are hunted. The birds were there for some reason the first time and unless that resource is gone chances are that they will be back.

I agree your not running them out of an area. They move around all day. Try approaching the same area from a different direction. That might throw them for a loop.

I couldn't agree more. Good habitat is good habitat. I've hunted areas that have been walked just hours before and got birds. Grouse move around all day long. I'd also agree they are going to be mopre skittish as well.

The Grouse are moving all the time...they don't stay in one spot waiting a hunter to come along.

How many times have you parked the truck, set off into the woods, came back to the truck and had one flush right near by...I've had that happen on alot of occassions.

Like the above posts stated, you can hunt cover over and over and whatever brought the birds there the first time, if it is still there, they will be back also.
