Fall Turkey Hunt

My brother, brother-in-law, and I will be hunting the second season. Never had much luck hunting them in the fall, but we had so much fun chasing them in the Spring that we figured we'd try. Just about time to start scouting.

I have never hunted them in the Fall but last year Deer hunting, many times, I was able to walk about 15 yards from them and I was in blaze orange. One guy I talked to said they are pretty easy to hunt in the fall as you can very easily pattern them. They seem to go to the same places every day.

I wish there was a fall season in our area. I've been seeing the same 11 almost everyday for over a week & it's a place I've got permission to bowhunt deer already.

I saw a group of 9 one of the place we spring hunted as well. It seems like they're flocking up quite a bit already.

I've been seeing 3 nice toms in a field running together, just before they go up to roost at night. At least at this time of day, they're not running with 15 hens and 5 jakes like so many fall birds do.

Good luck to all of you with tags this fall.

Speaking of Turkeys, this morning on the way to work my wife and I saw 2 hens with 2 large poults (smaller than the hens but same colors). This was in Golden Valley on Douglas about 1 mile from Hwy 55.
