BIG TURKEY

DAD-N-EYE

I shot a huge tom this year! It is my first year. I am 14 years old and am hooked on all kinds of hunting. It weighed 24 1/4 lbs., 1 1/4 in. spurs and had 10 3/4 in. beard. Nice bird, really pretty. Has anyone else got any birds.

Tracey... nice bird! That is definitely one to be proud of! Now you're hooked... Hope you find one like that each year. My buddy and I went 2 for 3 tags in 2 states. Next year hoping to make it 3 states. See what happens when you start hunting these birds? They get you in trouble with the boss at home and the boss at work! hehehe My biggest to date (this year's) was 23 pounds. I saw a multiple bearded Tom scouting, but he never presented himself during the season. Maybe next year! There's a goal for you to beat this years bird... a multiple beard bird! Good job again on that bird! You deserve to strut your stuff! You did well!

Good Luck!

I shot a 24 lbs bird with a double beard. Although the spurs were only 3/4 inch. It came running to me while using a mouth call and 4 decoys. Heard him on the roost first thing in the A.M. Have you found it is so hard to wait to call when the "big dog" is calling and calling... (I only call one or two times when they are roosting). One shot at 55 yards with #4 hevishot. (A jake noticed me and scared the tom or I would have waited.)

I am hooked for life!
