BDR
Can't figure this one out. I get up this morning and let the pooch out, 10 minutes later he brings me a dead, half grown Pheasant chick. How can this be?? It was in perfect condition, could have been froze last fall and just thawed or it did look like a fresh kill. It had no decay at all.I live in the Metro and do see a few nearby but the real question is it bieng a chick.Any ideas how this can be? ------------------If I only had more time!Brian Rogers[This message has been edited by BDR (edited 03-15-2004).]
CornPirateKiller
Could be that your chick was a pen raised bird that escaped. I've raised pheasants in the past, both for personal use and for release. They can really be incredible escape artists. Could be that someone in your neighborhood obtained some chicks or eggs (they can usually be obtained year round from somewhere) and is raising them for dog training or such. A small number of birds (25 or less) can easily be raised in a garage or backyard enclosure. Seems pretty early to be a wild bird.------------------Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati (When all else fails, play dead)
BDR
That's the only logical conclusion I can come up with. ------------------If I only had more time!Brian Rogers
