Crow Hunter
Does anybody have a source for Dolgo crabapple trees for sale in Minnesota?
Dotch
Just doing a relatively quick search for "dolgo crabapple trees for sale in MN", there are several places that sell them. It appears in many cases they're already sold out however so starting to look well in advance is a good idea. If you can find them, it then becomes a matter of what you're looking for, how far you're willing to travel and what you're willing to pay. If you want the cheaper bare root stock like the SWCD's sell for say $40 per bundle of 25, would check with them to see what they carry. Often times dolgo is not one of them that is specified or if they are, they are sold out. Have received a mix which is fine as I don't care. I'm not out to make jelly or attract deer. Too many deer already around our place! Hope this gives you some places to look. http://plants.gertens.com/12070009/Plant/964/Dolgo_Apple (TC) http://theappletreeguy.com/ (Carlton) http://gilbysorchard.com/bare-root (Aitkin) http://www.beiersgreenhouse.com/#!history/c12xa (Grand Rapids) https://www.chiefrivernursery.com/store/Dolgo-Crabapple-Seedlings.html (WI; and they're out of stock)
Crow Hunter
Thanks Dotch. There is a possibility I may get up to Aitkin, I will keep that orchard in mind. I have been to Gertens, the Dolgo's were 50 bucks last year, now $80, for one tree. Dotch
Dotch
I saw some of the prices and thought, well, just depends on how bad a person wants them I guess. Not sure where you're planting the trees but seems like I have the best luck when the stock comes from a relatively short distance. A lot of the food plot guys seem to be putting stuff in up in the north woods somewhere so finding a nearby nursery can be more of a challenge. One other place I almost forgot about not far from the TC or here for that matter would be Farmer Seed and Nursery in Faribault. Looks like they may have them. They're 18" - 24" trees, guessing bare root, but the price is decent. http://www.farmerseed.com/prodnav.asp?cat_search=Tas&nav=fan&curPage=2&header=Fruits~and~Nuts~-~Trees~and~Shrubs&cat_sale= Good luck! Crow Hunter
I planted one chestnut and one whitney last year, I would just like a good mix. My land is in Wadena county.
