leechlake
Tonight was a milestone night. My nephews have been butchering deer with me for about 4 years now and we did do one last week together. Tonight we had two bucks from last weekend and they got them both done in three hours. I just stood by the grinder grinding meat for sausage. Since I didn't have to do the grunt work I also made an 8 pound batch of the formed venison /pork bacon which is sitting in the fridge to be smoked tomorrow. When we got done we had some loin with fried potatoes, they cleaned up while I made it. I've turned the corner to a new role in the butchering process and so have they. Awesome night for sure. reinhard1
Awesome!!! That's great that you have guided the nephews to continue the traditions of processing and probably future sausage making so they can carry on this to their kids and more. good luck. ThunderLund78
Could've used their help. I had to do mine my dang self!!!!! Actually, I wanted it that way. I had helped do it many times but had never tackled it alone - I learned a lot. But it's certainly more fun to have someone to talk to. Looking forward to the day when I can do it with my two boys and I can take-on the foreman role like you have, Leechlake! Boar
yup I generally have to do the proccessing myself too, my oldest is in college and she shoots, sleeps in and study's not a problem, my youngest thinks its cool to skin so thats cool, but then i get pretty articulae, on the triming in whcih I only aloow pure clean meat, they get kinda irritated by my retentiveness. but they dont argue with the final product. reinhard1
