reinhard1
I just bought a Go WISE 8 quart stainless steel pressure cooker. Something new for me. It's got all the different settings up front for different cooking styles and methods and is digital. Problem is I'm having a problem getting used to it. First two attempts were a failure. Put chicken things in the cooker [followed a recipe for pressure cookers], pushed the meat/stew button, closed the lid and let her go. Ended up having steam shoot up the hole by the handle [floating valve]. Ended up burning the chicken on the bottom of the pot when all the liquid evaporated. Did a different recipe yesterday and steam again came out of the hole [floating valve]. My daughter has the same one and she said to forget all the cooking settings for they are not for pressure. She said to just set the timer and set the minutes you want and it will work fine so that will be my next step. I'm sure it's my fault on the first two try's but I am excited about what this thing can do when you want a quick meal when you don't have the time. How many of you have one of these "newer" pressure cookers and what are your tips for using it. good luck.
leechlake
I'd go "old school" as she suggested using the timer. I read so many recipes on line that call for the oddest cook times that defy what I've learned over the years that I wonder who decided what times to program your settings for? I only have a PC with two settings, one with it full closed and one that allows some steam out so I'm of no use on your particular one except to say the two settings do everything I want and need.I will say RH that screwing up something in a PC is pretty hard and for you to do it makes us all feel better about ourselves!!! You'll figure it out, I bet you may lay in bed pondering the dilemna too? reinhard1
reinhard1
I'm also terrible at reading instructions LOL. I think this one is like so many microwaves with all the functions. I use my microwave mainly to heat up stuff, the other settings are rarely used. So I will treat this like a two function one. Like I said my daughter said to just use the timer and it will be under pressure, the other functions allow steam to escape. Never owned a pressure cooker before but I think it will be a good tool in my arsenal. good luck.

LindellProStaf
I just got a stainless steel PC and have not used it much. I did put some frozen chicken wings in and after 10 minutes they were done. Then I put them under the broiler for a few minutes to get a nice brown and they turned out real good. Need to try some other things this winter. reinhard1
RebelSS
Someone needs to invent a pressure cooker with a built in auto browner.... Isn't interesting how on one hand, we have a slow-cooker, and also own a rocket-fast PC? reinhard1 and bobberineyes

As a matter of fact I bet you have multiple deer calibers ready to head to the woods. Gotta have a .22 for kids to shoot squirrels, at least 3-12 gauges for ducks and pheasants, a 20 gauge or two for grouse, couple pistols, and a muzzleloader. It's the same thing but for the kitchen. reinhard1 and RebelSS
RebelSS
leech, those 12 different ice fishing rods, and 18 panfish rods and reels multiply when you put them together, you know that! That's why I now have to make numerous trips from the truck to the range and back, becuz those pistols will NOT stop fooling around in the back seat! I swear! It's true!! That's all different!! reinhard1
