I also say get the sportsmans atlas. It,s around $20 at Gander, but its the best $20 I've spent. Without it I would sped alot of time searching. If you do get it carry a pen write notes on page edges and it hasn't been updated for several years so I color in any public lands I see that are not on the map. There is alot of public land out there, mostly W.P.A.'s so steel shot only.

Just got home from Morris today. The weather was a little too warm, but I feel we did ok. Two of us hunting over a German Shorthair managed 8 roosters in 2 1/2 days. I know there are many stories about there being tons of birds and easy pickings, but I can only say that we worked very hard for our birds. We saw lots of hens. We hunted mostly public land. We did manage to get permission to hunt a 1/4 section of private land and 5 of the roosters came from there. Being MEA weekend, we met quite a few people out with their kids and it was a lot of fun. If you go out there expecting to limit out every day, you may be disappointed. We talked to quite a few hunters out there and never heard anyone say they limited out. To me, it's not really that important. I shared a great weekend with my dad and my dog is a little smarter than he was a week ago. Good luck!

huntforfood is right on. I hunted the Morris area this weekend for two days with my two nephews and to be honest, the hunting was much better last year. From what I hear when talking to the locals and other hunters, go just south and west for much better hunting than right around morris. We still found birds but had to work real hard for them on public land. The spots we hunted were just north of morris. Next time I'm heading south a little ways further.
