conditioning dogs late season

how do you guys keep your dogs in shape later into the season? specifically after day light savings. Up until last week it was great to get out after dinner and get some miles in.

Now after the time change it gets dark so early. I dont have time in the morning before work, getting kids ready etc so my time is limited. As the days go by were going to lose more daylight everyday.

Do you just go out after dark? I live out in a rural area so I am not as comfortable as I would be if I lived in town. The visibility is pretty limited and the roads are narrow and I dont trust other drivers to see me or my dogs after dark.

A treadmill works great. As for me I just find a large open area and take them for a run. It's good for them and me. :)

Everyone's situation is different,  I usually will do retrieves this time of year when it's dark, not only to get the exercise in but usually it's all nose and not sight.  There is always hooking up the leash and take em for a walk if that's the only option. .
