Tom7227
Check engine light came on and the codes indicate that cylinder #3 is misfiring due to a bad mass air flow sensor. Doesn't look like a big deal on the 2002 F150, but I am wondering why #3 would be the one misfiring. Can someone explain that to me?Thanks for your time.Tom
Jeremy airjer W
what is the code?MAF does not generally cause one cylinder to misfire. typically they will run both banks lean or rich and set P0171/P0172 depending on how they go. There can also be a noticeable difference in performance. Especially when they go lean. You will typically experiences a general lack of acceleration. On a 5.4 liter I would be pulling the coil and checking for spark with an adjustable air gap spark tester. Should see at least 1/2 to 3/4 inch of spark coming out of the coil.
Tom7227
It was the coil. Thanks for the input.
