busse3775
Heading out to Devils Lake next weekend (10/23) - (10/25) for a couple days of fall fishing. I have been out there before during the fall but wondering if any particular color of jigging rap has seemed to be better than others? We plan on fishing the bridges pretty hard and if that does not work, pulling cranks along shorelines and sunken roads.
TylerS
I'd never consider a jigging rap out there, unless you're brining up a few hundred dollars worth. Then go nuts! I have a hard enough time keeping regular old crank baits on. Between the snags and slimers, they go quick. As for color, fire tiger is always a safe bet. Seems they like the brighter colors. busse3775
Spent a half day Friday, all day Saturday, and a half day Sunday fishing the bridges of Devils Lake and what an awesome trip for the 4 of us! We started fishing at noon on Friday and decided to make a trip out to the Towers since the water was pretty calm. Caught well over 30 eyes but only kept one, most of them were 12" at best. After only an hour we decided to fish the bridges next to the casino and fishing was hot! Immediately started catching quality fish with a 22" and a 24" that we threw back. Caught 60+ fish in only a half day fishing so we went in with our heads high. Saturday the sun finally came out but it was pretty windy and we went right back to our spot fishing the bridges with jigging raps. Again, started catching quality fish right away and were pretty picky with what we kept. Walleyes had to be 16"-20". Around 11:00am the fishing really died down with only a couple fish an hour so we moved around between the bridges more and picked up some nice 18" eaters. Also released a 22" and I had a 26"-28" get off while we were trying to net it that had to weigh close to nine pounds, thing was a football! The fishing picked up again in the afternoon and we ended up catching 80+ walleyes on the day and keeping a 4 person limit. Sunday we had the same results in the morning and called it quits around 10:30am once the bite shut down and our hands and wrists couldn't take much more fishing with the jigging raps for several days. Ended up being an awesome trip and we came home with a really nice limit of walleyes to fry up! marine_man
