Fan On All The TIme

My fan is running all the time on my Polaris 500 Sportsman 4 by 4.   Right from when I start it and all during the ride and only shuts off when I stop the engine.  Anyone know what's up with that? thanks good luck.

this could be related to your other issue? did you ever check with a dealership about the ECM recall? did the new battery help the charging issue?

there is a radiator temp sensor that controls the fan. there is also a sensor on the head that reads motor temp, and switches on the hot light on the dash

to check your sensors. short the one on the radiator by putting a screwdriver between the 2 terminals that should make the fan come on. on the sensor on the head you can run a wire from the brass pin that has no terminal on it to ground to make sure your dummy light is working. that has nothing to do with the fan but while your at it it's nice to know it all works

i would start with the sensor on the radiator and clean it up with some di-electric grease, maybe it got dirty or something?

Ya, I checked for the re-call and there was none for that year.  I checked around for a stator and so far on-line I found one for $225.  Polaris want's $500 for the same thing.  I'm not much of a mechanic so I'm going to have a friend check what you advise.  All of these issues started at the same time.  Thanks, I really appreciate it.  good luck.
