Grouse?

Wondering if anyone has been finding any grouse this year. I have been hunting the central part of the state, Pine Co., with minimal results. Anyone doing better elsewhere?

I have been doing pretty good up in the Ely area. Everyone says the birds are down but but if you work hard enough you can find some out there.

Have you been down the Echo trail at all?I was there early this season and only bagged three in five days of hunting. Lots of cover at that time however. I am heading up that way friday for 9 days of Deer hunting. Maybe I better throw in the shotgun.

It's funny that I see em when I don't have the gun. When I'm out for 'em, there ain't a feather in sight beyond the whiskeyjacks. We've done ok here in Ely though. Now that the mean green is gone, it evens up the odds a bit. Good luck on the deer Dusty, plenty of them around.

I hunt the echo trail mainly because there is so much room to hunt. I hardly see anyone when I have been hunting. I would throw the shotgun in if you are coming up. I have had alot of bad day's but have also had somr real good day's. Good Hunting!!

We shot quite a few grouse this year near lake winne early on. Lately we have not seen much. there are a lot of hunters near here though so that might be the problem.

Anybody tried grouse hunting around the big falls / little fork area? I might be up around that way between thanksgiving and xmas.

Dusty, FOREST ROAD 200 and NORWAY TRAIL for both deer and grouse.

I know those spots well. We have taken many nice Bucks in the Norway trail area And hope to this year also. Any snow up that way?

It snowed all day yesterday, there is a good covering on the ground. Perfect for deer hunting. Good Hunting.

Since opener, I have spent most every weekend around the Mille Lacs area either bow hunting or grouse hunting. While the population is definitely down, I have seen birds every time out. Unfortunately, I usually see them when I have my bow in hand instead of my shotgun!

Hey we hunted the Echo trail area the last week and bagged three bucks. We hunted the norway trail road and other spots along the Echo. We had great hunting condtinons with snow and new snow every day. Thanks for your updates.
