bear bait. $$$

I'm finding it more and more difficult to find free or cheap bear bait.  How much money does everyone spend on bear bait in general?

seems like nuthing is free any more, so far, my partner has spent 200 or more to fill ten barrels of doughnuts, and these are only 35 gal. drums, we'll end up spending another 200 or more for suppliments of granola and such, I had anorder going in for 4 barrels of peanut buter cookie dough and cherrry granola but my financing fell thru, (I didnt get my allowence)  I would say, me and my partner spend close to 500 bucks a season. but its what we love to do. granted we have alot left over at the end of the season, but more is better if you can accomodate it. I still gather grease for free, and a couple extra bags of dog food to boot.

it can be done much cheaper for sure, go to a grainery and get bushels of oats and sunflowers, couple bags of dog food, save you left overs from the fridge or freezer burnt what ever, bacon grease threw outh the winter. we do most of our doughnut gathering in the winter, much less compitition, but still generally have to pay for it, but its worth the money. ther are cheaper ways but he with the best bait wins, LOL Good luck.

I spent 125 on bait and attractants! I was running just three baits and putting a couple of 8 gallon buckets every time I went out. I did get my grease for free.

im gonna give this a shot, sam club for 10 buks, just add water and u have peanut buttter , gonna make runny enough to squirt outa a ketchup bottol for bait topping

Bait is usually the cheap part for us, its the driving back and forth to bait that gets expensive! I hunt with a great group of guys, and whoever gets drawn will pitch in $150 bucks at the start for gas, and then we take turns going up to bait. I haven't had a license for a while now, but I still go up and bait every chance that I get. We collect bread, doughnuts and anything else that we can get our hands on for little or nothing! Only 8 weeks till we can stat baiting!!

I have been fortunate the last couple of years with getting bear bait. I am stocked and ready for this coming season. The gas money is definitely a big expense for sure.
