irrigation system?

Any body have experience on cost of underground system? I have a regular city lot, believe 1/4 acre lot. Obviously would depend on a few variables but what to get an idea to see if it is feasible.

The big box store where you save big money has a Rainbird do it yourself kit that hooks up to your outside faucet for $119.00. Don't know how well it works but the other orange big box store has a bunch or reviews listed that are mostly very favorable. supposed to be good for up to 3,000 square feet. I had a quote from a professional on a large lot that approached $5,000.00.

I worked for a small company last summer, did pretty good work and for an area like that a rough estimate would be round $2500. I know my boss would do the systems cheaper than most.

To give you an idea i have just under an acre that i have irrigation on and it was $4000. I ended up doing it in two separate times to keep the cost down.

When I had my home built I had them run the two inch line outside in anticipation of putting a system in. I'm getting ready to do one this year but doing it myself. I'm ordering all my stuff online from Sprinkler Warehouse and can do all the parts, rent the machines and have it done for about $1900 for an acre lot. For yours it would be much less.
