Fall Bass Tactics

As the weeds start to die back, look for inside turns.. where deep water is closest to shore.. try and cover water.. IE.. spinnerbaits.. rat-l-traps, shallow cranks.. and find "A FISH".. once you catch one.. slow down and see if there are more.. if there isn't I would be VERY SURPRISED!.. as I say slow down.. go back to jigs, plastics(texas rig, carolina rig, splitshot rig)

Also, in the fall more than ever I try to use the wind to my advantage. If its not too windy I will always try and fish the windy side of the lake. These fish seem to be more active.

Something I had wrote someplace else. Kinda sums it up for me. It basically just adds on to what has been said already.

Fall is one of my favorite times to catch big bass. With the oncoming hard water bass tend to feed hard and start to school up nicely. I have had excellent luck fishing buzz baits all times of day in the shallows and over milfoil beds that go out as far as 8' deep. Usually where there is one there is more. I have also had good luck fishing plastics in transition areas such as outside weed edges that sit next to deeper water. When I am targeting these areas I look for any irregularities in the weed lines like bends or points. You can find alot of nicer sized fish that are in shallow feeding but still like the comfort of having deep water close by. Once I find the fish I usually canvas the area pretty good working my plastics slow. Also don't discount working inside edges with plastics. There still are some nice meals in shallow for them like frogs, craws, and minnows.
