Rod Length

Hey all. Carpal Tunnel is forcing me to bait casters, (reel left handed on spinning gear) While I already have 1 nice baitcasting combo, I am looking to add to my collection. I am pretty much set on either a pfleugar presidente or shimano curado 200sf. But what I am wondering is what rod length do I want? 7' is nice for long casts and maybe lighter lures, but 6'6" is what I am mainly used to.

question is what do you bass pros use?

ditto to what Exudedude said... Go with whatever feels best to you.. A long rod has several advantages, but if it doesn't feel good to you it isn't going to be the better rod for you.

My fav. is a 6'8"...

Exudedude, so far I like the Exude baits... Still need some more time with them though.. so many baits, so little time...

I like 7' rods. I can cast farther, pick up slack a little faster, and just have more length to move the fish where I want em, especially next to the boat. This is compared to my 6'6" rods. Where did you guys get the in-betweeners? It did take me a little while to get used to them, but I really like them compared to 6'6".

The disadvantage is storage.

Just an opinion from one bass head to another.

All great info, thanks a ton guys. I think I found a pretty good deal down at Cabela's for a nice combo, a Cabela's rod and a pflueger presidente real. I will have to look at the trion too though. Might make a decision in the next couple of weeks. no need to rush it.

I just picked up a Shimano rod last week. I can't remember the model, it was like Calrus or something. It was $60 and that was in my budget. Its a 7' medium fast action, IM7, one piece, with Fuji guides. It's a spinning rod. I like it a lot. I also have a Shimano 4000 spinning reel for years now and it still is good. I even stepped on it before! They are like Timex, Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!
