So what all is covered during the class? I'm interested

Pretty much everything from treestand safety to yardage estimation, deer vocalization and scents, proper shooting form and equipment, clothing, etc.

This is the class that is necessary if you want to hunt any of the metro hunts and several states require it as well.

Dang, I think I'm going to be out of state that weekend. I was hoping to attend this one this year because I really want to get the certification that allows me to hunt inside city limits and this class looks to have some very good educational value to it. It's great that this group puts on this class for such a reasonable rate.

I was doing some research the the other day regarding what is needed to be allowed to hunt urban areas in Minnesota. It seems that the requirements are that you need to complete the "Bowhunter Educational Program" and pass an "Archery Proficiency Test" that is administered by a certified archery instructor. From what I can see, the Bowhunter Educational Program certification can be completed online at www.bowhunter-ed.com but then I'd have to find somewhere to get the proficiency test piece completed.

Anyone have any experience getting certified this way and have any recommendations?

what does the proficiency test require you to do?

There are different levels for different hunts.

Standard qualification: 5 of 5 arrows in a 7" circle at 20 yards.

Sharpshooter qualification: 5 of 5 arrows in a 4" circle at 20 yards.

A-1 archery you can get this done at.

Going to the class I recommend for newbies to hunting and not on line. Even old vets it's a refresher and see new or ideas you might not of thought of.

Marlene and Jerry run a great class.
