A Bass Named "Lucky"

I have a bass story for those of you who are interested. Maybe some of you have a big bass story simmilar and hopefully has a happy ending. About four weeks ago my pregnant wife and I went out to do a little bass fishing because they were biting on surface frogs and she loves fishing bass that way. Towards dark my wife needing to go to the bathroom we start making our way back to the access. With the trolling motor on high and me casting way ahead of the boat a huge bass (22-25 inhes)takes my frog and the battle starts. I fight this bass for about 10 minutes and it jumps out of the water 3 times shaking its head with the lure deeply imbedded in its mouth. I bring the bass to the boat towards the net my wife is holding. I thought the bass was played out but it came up for one more jump just outside the reach of my wife and pops the lure hitting me in the chest. Two weeks later I go to the same lake and to the same spot. I had the big one on this time using a tube. My first cast I feel the bite and set the hook. Its him! I quickly look for my net to make sure its ready and there is no ******* net. I later find out my brother took it out to use it on a fishing trip he went onand forgot to tell me. So I battle this huge bass again to the point where its played out and bring it by the boat. I noticed that it was barely hooked so lifting the fish with my pole into the boat was out. I bring the fish around to lip him and about six inches from my hand the hook comes out. The fish isjust sitting there mouth opened and I lunge for it having the body of the fish in my hand only to have it slip out and the fish swims away. I realize there are some mistakes I made during both these meetings with lucky but having a net on the second try would have been golden. But I'm 100% on shoulda woulda coulda's. I better get another shot at him because I've been fishing bass reliously for about 15 years and its by far the biggest bass I've ever seen.

that sucks!! too bad to lose a nice fish like that twice.. you need to find a wife with longer arms. HA HA HA HA smile.gif

it is true that those big ones like to hang in the same basic locations. you'll have to go back for her again...

good luck!

Good story Frogs! Don't worry, I will catch him for ya someday grin.gif .

I had a nice size bass on a few years ago before I was set up for Bass fishing. I think it was the third time I had this bass on. I got it up to the boat and it stopped. I looked down and I could see my jawbreaker in its mouth right next to a weed. As I tried to pull the fish up I saw that the jawbreaker was actually stuck on the reed and the fish just swam away. That was the last time I saw her.

One more...
On our annual Canada Laker trip we hooked into a Laker but soon found out it was snagged on something. We jumped in the boat and looked down into the 40ft. of water where the line was snagged. The fish must have taken off and wrapped around the tip of an old 20 foot tree. We were using pretty heavy line so it actually brought the tree up off bottom and we could see the laker swimming around with the hook in its mouth. After about a half hour we landed the fish and the tree.

Soooo what lake was that again. I had one, a big one run under the boat pulling my rod with it the only thing sticking out of the water was the reel and the handle. And then she came back out just as fast as she went under. When she got the slack out of the line up she came about 2 feet out of the water shaking her head like a dog. Then pop here comes my topwater almost hit me in the face..

Ok guys ya gotta hear this one!
I was dropshoting in October last fall on Minnetonka.I won't say where but it was a weed line that went from12'-18' I casted out and was letting it sink and I was watching the line tension tighten up quicker than usual,so since hook sets are free I reeled down and yanked really hard!!
All I felt was like this log hooked feeling ! All of a sudden I see this head with a mouth the size of a black hole in space come flippin out of the water!!.My eyes got huge you could have easily put 2 fists in it's mouth and I looked at the guy in the back of my boat and he looked at me and screamed THAT'S A BIG OL BASS!!!!!
I have fished for bass about 20 years now and that was definetaly the biggest fish of my life I was hooked into!!! It was as big as my THIGH!!!.I would guess it to be about 8#'s
I backed the boat over deep water and the fish would run and the drag would sing !! I yelled get the net !! It was by the boat 3 times and it would just peel the drag and I would have to play it to the boat again.I only had 12 # test! On the 4th run the line snapped ,but I had the best fight of bass fishing of my life and I hope to have another 1 or 2 before I end this one and get to catch the big ones every day for the rest of my after life LOL!!
Well I need a nap after that one it brought back all that adrenilen just talkin about it!!!!!!
Tight lines All
