bucketmouth64
I haven't had luck using stick baits that have propellers at each end. What are some "ideal conditions" that these would produce? Or is there a time of year that these are better used?
Clay.P
Prop baits seem to work best when there is water movement, Chop or current. I have done pretty well at times with a devils horse on the river, fishing current breaks. You need to play with retrieve speed and the angle the blade is bent at to find out what the fish want. The Rapala top prop is also a good bait to try.
sami0115
i have had great success with a "Nip-a-Deedee" sp.? i have fished it mainly in the early a.m. over top of cabbage or outside of the bullrush line. the largemouth just hammer it.
BigMike
I use Heddon torpedos every once and a while. They are pretty good for smallies on the river, and real good between docks & shallow weedlines. Pop/Pause, Pop/Pause.
NELS-BELLS
Like BigMike said Pop/Pause but I would ad that the longer you pause the better. When your lure hits the water let it sit there for a good 4 seconds and then give it a little pop, then let it sit there for at least a couple seconds and then pop it again. The fish usually hit within the first couple pops. After about five pops I usually reel it in and cast it out again.Good luck,Nels
