opinions on a good reel for my jig rod

I'm looking for a good reel for my jig rod. I'm looking for up to about $150 price range I usually throw heavier jigs usually 3/4 or 1 oz and I'm having issues with reels in the $100 class giving out after a year or two so what would I have the best luck with any suggestions would be great

Check out a Pflueger Patriarch. probably in a 40 or 45 model. I use the Presidents 30's and love them, but normally don't go over 1/2 oz. and most times only throwing 1/8. One option.

Having used the a lot the last couple of years, it's very very hard, IMHO, to beat a Lews in terms of bang for the buck. I have several Tournaments and love them. Big baits are tough on the gears, especially if you use braid, but I've thrown 3/4 to 1 oz football heads with a Lews Tournament the last couple years and had zero issues. If you really are concerned about durability you can look at a Super Duty.

Honestly, the mid-range Revos are very good too.

I bought two Lew's Speed Spools last spring for $60 each on sale (with rebates). I wish I would have bought ten of them. Great reels.

Thats the problem I am having the gears don't hold up for more than a year or two

Just buy a Curado for $150. If you get bored with it in five years you can always sell it for $120...

Another vote for less. I am short 4 reels for next year and one is for exactly what you are talking about and I plan on going less for them all but I need lefty reels...

Lew's has a $30 rebate for some of the Tournament models if you buy before December, and a lot of the big retailers like Cabelas, Dick's, and Gander are offering discounts on items over $100, I've been able to drop the Tournament MG price down to around $65. I have a regular SS 7.3:1 and like it for everything, but I haven't had it over a year so I can't say it will last.
