if you don't have any luck:

heat oven to 500 degrees (needs to be electric oven). Cook roast for 5-1/2 minutes per pound and then turn oven off and do not open the door. 2 hours later it will be a perfect medium rare and beautiful on the outside. Salt outside before hand.

If you have a 6 pounder that means cook 33 minutes at 500, after the 33 minutes turn oven off and leave for 2 hours. Perfect every time.

Interesting. We used the oven off method while on vacation in Florida and our Prime Rib turned out perfect. When we tried it at home, it wasn't as rare as we had hoped, however I don't recall if that was gas or electric.

Why do you mention this only working for electric? Just curious as I have gas and I am always looking for a good recipe.

The search button that was on the top of page seems to be gone. Good. It sucked. Use the one on the left side of page. It has always been there and it's always worked better.
