JIFFY ICE AUGERS

Who's here has a jiffy ice auger? How do you like it. And problems with it ever? The only problem we have with are jiffy is the recoil. The string breaks or the gears get hard to move. The fact that I use it mostly everyday in winter as soon as ice gets good. Any solutions why I have problems or any solution to use to fix it when I do have problems again? Thanks in advance!

I can't think of a bad auger made anymore. Jiffy is one of the best, they last forever.

Had an old Jiffy from 25 yrs. ago paid like 180 for it sold it last year for 100 bucks had one of the first 3 horse jiffy sold last year for 250 and bought a Jiffy propane and works great. They work and hold their value.

Had my auger for 25 years, when 10" first came the rage, no problems that regular maintenance didn't fix, that said are you letting go of the rope and letting it slam back into the housing and are the gears what you are referring to in the recoil? About the recoil itself, I remove the entire recoil from motor and spray white lithium grease into it annually and have no problems, also have an oversized loop style pull that I can get my whole hand into so that the rope doesn't get away and slam back in hard which puts a lot of stress on spring and rope. Also make sure that the rope hits end before spring is wound tight as you pull rope, want rope to be the stop not the end of the spring.

I have a 6 year old Jiffy STX 34 and it hasn't failed me yet so I really can't help with any of those problems. Starts up after a few pulls. Cuts quickly. Always go with Jiffy!
