Chevy 5.7 stutter?

1996 Chevy 5.7 4x4

Helping out a broke college student, truck seems to have a recurring stutter/(almost a miss) when low speed and in high gear only. Nothing in between.

When it does it, the tach does not show fluctuation.

I had this once in my older truck but it was at idle and I changed out the EGR and solved it, could this be the same deal?

Any way to test for EGR before purchasing it?

Is the check engine light on showing a code?

No check engine light illuminated.

My 05 F150 had a stutter or chug at around 50-60mph and had heard it could be the spark plugs. Went in and had the spark plugs changed and the stutter/chug was gone and hasn't been back.

Can't remember the exact symptoms, but I know I put in non-ACdelco plugs once and also the wires were bad, and a similar thing happened. New good plugs and wires and my problem was solved. '98 5.7

When is the last time you replaced the distributor cap & rotor?

I don't know when any other hint else was fixed or replaced in this truck. I'll check some of this stuff and try to figure it out.

After putting on new tires, it seems to be fine. Must have been more of a "shake" that was caused by a bad tire! Problem solved, I hope!
