Need help deciding which tires to buy

Recommended Posts

P275/65/r18 replacing the originals on half ton truck. I'm trying to decide between the Michelin A/T2 and the LTX m/s2. Price is about the same for both $1K (not including the $70 gift card)out the door and this is after calling 3 places, The Ford dealer, Mills Fleet, and Wal-mart in St.Cloud. The Ford dealer has the low price guarantee and will meet any competitor price I believe. I'm probably the typical outdoorsman. Mostly highway driving and then hunting, pulling boat, and ice fishing. Which tires do you think and why?

Check Discount Tire also. There was a post on this recently. I am on my second set of LTX M/S. 80,000 miles on the first set and still had tread but the sidewalls were weathering. I can't comment on the A/T2. One quick search I did on the Michelin site shows the LTX M/S rated better in 4 of the 5 categories rated. The only one was off road with the A/T2 being much better. The LTX M/S2 ws better in braking. Maybe that's why I didn't hit that deer last spring. smile If the trucks a 4-wheel drive, I would opt for the LTX M/S2.

I think the Dodge dealers are now running the buy 3 get 1 free. Shouldn't matter what make of truck you have. I went with the LTX m2 on my Ford and love them. I did the buy 3 get 1 free when ford was running the program. Along with my employee discount 4 tire mounted and balanced were $670. Ford has a real good tire program for employees.

Is there much difference in ride for a F-150 between a 'LT' and a 'P' tire.

I know LT is meant for 3/4 and 1 ton, but curious how ride would be on the smaller truck.

I have found some LT tires at a good price but wouldn't want to ruin ride.

Thank you in advance for any help
