Another Noob ?

Wow did I find the X for Ring Necks!! From first light to now, still flying from what a buddy of mine tells me (he's still out there).

But there's hardly any other species around with them. Is this normal?

We could hear an occasional quack (assuming mallard) across the lake we were on but all the flocks we seen and shot at looked to be the same ring neck species.

I've seen alot of ducks on this lake in years past but never paid any attention to what kind. Thoughts on whether we should look to another lake for mallards etc. Or is it just a BIG push of Ring Necks

Heck, I'd stay on that lake and have fun! Glad to hear you are seeing good numbers. I scouted a bit this am and just saw one flock of ringbill and a few loners, and a handful of geese. Still going out tomorrow, maybe your birds will have moved south

Stay with em!! Ringers are a ball. They usually decoy good, are challenging to hit & taste just fine

Love those ducks ! Got into em one evening about 5 years ago. Swinging an empty gun and pulling the trigger, Thats how many were coming at a time. " Should we shoot at these 50 or wait for the 200 right behind em ? " Of course my kid and his buddy were showing off like they were playing pool. " 3rd drake from the left !" Bang ! dropped. 8th drake from the right " Bang. Dropped. I know it is a scene I will see again when I am on my death bed.

Boy stringerless is that right. There were hundreds coming in and it was a ball. I got up this morning planning to go but the strong SE wind stopped me. Would have been a 1/2 mile ride in way to small of a boat with old unreliable trolling motor

Anyone else notice how loud they are at times coming in? one flock sounded like f-15 fighter jets, literately they were loud.
