Fish Bite Alarms

Hi-

I have just been doing some searching on the internet, for Alarm Indicators for in permanent fish house. An alarm/light would go off when a fish takes the lines. I came across a product called, Layke Alarms. I got to thinking it wouldn't be to hard to make something like this. Was curious if anyone on here has done this, if so, lets see some pics!

thanks guys

I purchased 2 of these with the light and alarm but they are battery operated. Watch type battery.

They work very well with my rattle reels but I had to make a bracket to attach it. Only thing I do not like about them is they are very loud or way too loud.

I then purchased a set that mounts to the wall and you have to turn a knob to wind it up, takes maybe 10 seconds and then you insert a pin in a shaft and the line to that pin. This one is awesome as the sound is enough to wake you up but it does not have a light on it.

Both were found online, not a lot of choices out there.

About 15 years ago I rigged 9 volt batt system to my rattle reels in my wheeled house. No pics but will try to explain. Removed bells/rattles from the rattle reels for better balance. 9volt battery hooked to an alarm wired to each unit with a light and a burgler alarm with batteries on the spool. My set up is when the batts (4) move across the sensor the alarm is triggered. My buddy has the same kind of set up but with home made super light plastic spools. His alarm is triggered when the contact leaves the magnet(s).

Both set ups are with indicator super low amp lights and on/off switch.

I got the parts to get the dreamshak set up may try my buddy's way. You can get everything at radio shack. I could never wire a house but this is real easy to do!

Use a set of old car points for the switch then u can use a rattle reel or favorite rod/reel combo.Simply run your fishing line holding the points open. When a fish takes the bait it triggers the points to make connection and the circuit is complete.Wake up over there and set the hook on that bugger!Happy catchin!c63

Made a latching buzzer system that uses a magnetic reed switch and an automotive 12v relay. The indicator lamp and buzzer stay on until the system is reset. The switch does not have to be placed on the magnet, it triggers as it passes by. The reel/switch can be unplugged so the reels can be removed or rearranged in the house. The hole light is on a separate power switch so you don't spook them walleyes in shallow water with a blast of 100 lumen.
