Place to hunt near Brainerd

Hi Guys,

I am a southern MN Duck hunter and I have a customer that is coming up from Ohio and staying in Brainerd for the week of Oct. 20th. He wants me to take him Duck Hunting for a couple days but I have never hunted up there and don't know any good lakes to hunt on. If you guys could help me out I would appreciate it. I have a bigger duck boat with a surface drive mud motor so I can usually get anywhere I need too. I really appreciate any help!

Nate, Google earth the area and you should beable to find someplace to go...

Dan, I looked at that and there is a ton of different lakes. I was hoping someone could point me to a decent duck lake with enough cover for my boat.

It has been close to 25 years since I lived near Brainerd, but I use to do quite a bit of hunting NE of Merrifield. Since then I know there has been a bit of development but if you get away from the highway you should be able to find some smaller pothole lakes and oxbows along the river that will provide some good shooting.
