Cabela's Guidewear Xtreme Parka

nater

Question

I finally ordered my Cabela's Guidewear jacket after trying multiple other jackets. Gander Mountain Guide Series was the last which leaked during the first rain!

What are your thoughts on this jacket and are there any tips on maintenance down the road?

I've let a few people borrow my Guidewear suit while out on my boat when they didn't bring good enough clothing and they've all wanted their own set after trying mine out. My suit is uninsulated and I wear it year round - not too hot in the summer/fall rain and I layer a down jacket and pants underneath it for fall/ice fishing. It's been abused for several years now and is still in great shape. I have heard some zipper issues on the newer stuff, but I haven't had any problems at all. My understanding is that they have very good customer service, so if it's a big enough problem, hopefully they fix it for next years stuff and would let you make an exchange. I've been intrigued by Stormr gear from recommendations from some of my friends out west though, so if I do ever need to replace my gear, I'll be looking into that stuff.

Got mine 6 years ago, have been in hard all day rains, never been wet. Really like the big pockets, put cell phone, ect. in them, nothing gets wet. Unfortunately, slider broke off zipper last week in middle of Canada trip. Called Cabelas yesterday and asked if they could get it fixed or if they knew where I could send to get fixed, girl said no. Said I heard there was a life time warranty and could I exchange it, she said no, 1 year return policy. I hope I can find a seamstress to fix it. If it wasn,t for zipper I,d have no complaints.

Any good shop that has a pull to fit your zipper can fix you up for under 5 bucks. Maybe a canvas shop.

We have a shoe repair shop that will fix anything if they can salvage it. Just had them put on a pull couple months ago.

Would that be "Only Shoe Repair" on North Broadway?
