PurpleFloyd
I know I'm not as scientific as the DNR, but my trail cams, most hunters and non-hunters around here confirm deer are more abundant than ever before. I see more and more deer every time out. And I hunt at various points throughout the county. Yet we get to hunt one deer. Would the deer population suffer if we could take two? No, but the DNR admits it sets its limits according to social preferences. And the more vocal hunters say they want to see even more deer. So the silent majority (that needs to speak up) here goes along with it. Or buys plenty of party tags and just works around the system. Wait, what? There are volumes of posts in this forum stating in no uncertain terms that there are no deer in central Minnesota. Are you using a heavy dose of sarcasm or are you providing a ddifferent assessment of the deer herd in central Mn? wally243
Deerminator how old are you??? Just wondering to see if you hunted in the 90s and 80s.First of all there is a big difference in west central Minnesota and central Minnesota. In west central Minnesota the intensive harvest plan decimated the population much quicker than in central Minnesota due to cover and open country herding in muzzle loading season. When west central was at an all time low 6-7 years ago they gave out 9 doe tags in one zone. The deer have rebounded well. The funny part is why couldn't the DNR figure this out 6 if not 10 years ago that it was taking longer only due to the items I described. Now if it was only 6 years ago the multi deer and doe slaughter killed our herd why would you want to return so soon??? The second deer will be a doe in all instances I would believe???? Now you are killing your baby makers again????Jameson seems to have a pretty good handle on the situation IMHO.One thing to consider is that WC Minnesota doesn't have wolves to deal with so I would think recovery could take a bit longer. Gee I could work for the DNR and make 150k of your tax dollars.. LOLGood luck to all the hunters. Shoot what is legal and makes you smile. That is why we pay them to manage our resources....
