i recently bought a mirrocraft boat with a 1996 0r 97 mrec 40hp four cyl. the fella i bought it from cut the wires for the safety switch and dont remember how they were. so now it will start in gear. well i cant find a wire diagram for it, also went to marina and they looked at it and other things. the young man said put this wire here and that wire there. it was not right. Anyone with a diagram or any other help. the switch has three leads. to get it to sart i have one lead from swich to motor base. (ground?)

Thanks

I have a wiring diagram but can't figure out how to get from pdf to something I can post. For the tiller, the microswitch that is neutral safety is a pair of black wires from the switch. One goes to ground and one goes to what I think is the starter solenoid.

OK, back at this. Been going rounds with health issues. My son has been on keeping me up to speed but he is a little young for wiring yet. But anyway enough of my problems.

Marin man there was only one black wire that went to the motor base. (ground I think?)

delcecchi thanks for the diagram, that will help.

Thanks very much guys, I do appreciate it and will try fixing it this weekend. Will let you know if it works.
