Cicada
I think I found some Chanterelles today. Only thing that concerns me is the underside looks like gills rather than folds. Has a apricot smell. The "gills" are no straight, but some fork and blend into the stem.
pushbutton
They sure look a lot like the chants I pick That false gill thing can be a little tricky at first. If you pick at them you will see they actually are formed into the underside of the mushroom unlike a true gill. Other distinguishing features like you mentioned is the gill are decurrent, fork and split, and smell fruityish. Also good to see dirt on the end of them stem.......this is a photo id from the internet, take it for what it is......but, if you don't want them other people would
Cicada
I was pretty sure that is what I had, but a guy can get pretty sick on pretty sure.
pushbutton
Always good to be careful. Remember my first chants and since they were the first, was not completely sure; and did not have the gutz to eat them Everytime a new to me shroom comes up .....start questioning myself. Kind of a fine line to walk between due diligence and dimwitted Enjoy those, they sure are tasty.......
