TrollnDrift
My puppy (1 year) just wore through her pads again, second time I have noticed. Its like they blister up then tear. I just clipped the flap of dead pad, it is hard and does not hurt her to cut off. I do run her quite a bit, I could switch to more swimming but the lakes here are so green she would need a bath to be let back in the house. I have not had this issue before. Any suggestions? I will probly call my vet tomorrow and ask him as well.Erik
rwwong
My Vizsla has soft pads, and he has wore them down raw too. My vet suggested booties, but I just can't do it!
gspman
I do run her quite a bitWhat type of surface are you running her on?
TrollnDrift
We usually run at the dog park or wildlife areas, with the occasional bike path/trip to the hardware store. Last time out was at a wma.
snapjigger
Mushers secret... Stuff works great. It smooths the pads and toughens them at the same time. Its basically a wax type product. Do a search and read the reviews. Using it on my GWP and has worked great. Her pads were doing the same thing. It also keeps the ice balls off the toes in the winter. Great stuff for dogs that won't wear boots.
TrollnDrift
Thanks I saw a wax type product via an online search, I will check into that some more.
sightfisher
I agree with the Musher's Secret suggestion; I use it on my setter. Beneficial all year!
