Kovalev vs Hopkins

This is what boxing is missing. A champion like Hopkins taking on the most feared guy in the division. Stevenson so wanted to stay away from Kovalev that he went to Showtime because he was scared. Hopkins is a part owner of Golden Boy and he cut through the political talk and made the fight happen. I don't know if he will win, but it is refreshing that a champion makes the fight happen because he wants to challenge himself!

Kovalev is overrated and will look terrible in losing a boring, ugly decision to Hopkins. I got a kick out of reading the discussions on yahoo about this fight, everyone saying how this guy is going to kill Hopkins and KO him! Yet I'm the crazy one-who-thinks-I-am-silly who doesn't know anything about boxing because my prediction is exactly how the fight will go!

Sooner or later Hopkins will make a mistake and pay for it as he is getting older every day.

A great fighter with a great career but his age is soon going to get the best of him.

I agree Harvey, it just won't happen against Kovalev. Which is why I think this would be the perfect fight to retire after. However, it sounds like he'll be going after Adonis Stevenson after this.

Win, lose, or draw you have to respect Hopkins for trying to unify the belts. This is what boxing needs is to have fighters attitude to take all fights no matter what political or financial opposition by managers or promoters.

Hopkins has always been one of my favorite fighters. I got to see him fight live when he KO'd Oscar De La Hoya (one of my other favorites). He walked to the ring with Sinatra singing "I did it my way". Classic.

Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters too! I still remember when he hit Oscar with a liver shot for a knockout. The sound that Oscar made I never had heard before! My other favorite things is when he bet $100,000 on himself to beat Trinidad. In fact after he beat Trinidad, he was never the same fighter. It seems that anyone he fights is never as good as they once were like Pavlik, Taylor, Tarver, & Dawson. And he didn't even win all of those fights. I do favor him to win the fight, but Kovalev can punch. We will see what happens November 8. It will be free on HBO!!!!

Hopkins will win an ugly, boring decision. Kovalev might start out strong, but Hopkins will have him mentally defeated by the middle rounds.

Wow, was I way off on that one! Didn't watch the fight, but from what I've read, it was as lopsided as it gets.

Might be time for Hopkins to hang em up. Maybe a finale in Philly against a cupcake to end his career.

No kidding, I was off too! It would be nice for him to fight one more time when he is 50 and wrap it up. After he got knocked down in the first, you could tell he didn't want to get hit like that again. He tried down the stretch, but he doesn't have the power anymore to hurt a guy like kovalev. At least he tried, you have to get him credit. He could've been like Floyd and say he cant fight whoever because he fights on a different network.

I hate how everybody is ragging on B-Hop. Dudes old as dirt and still legit. I agree JB, it is his time to hang them up, what a career though. His fights were not the most entertaining but if you respected his style and the fact that he was an old guy and winning however possible then they were quiet enjoyable. A knockout doesnt make a fight, the fight makes the fight. If you know what that means then ok, if not Im sure I'll get the "boxing is over" remark.

Like Ali, some box to long and it ends not so good for them. Great at one time but age catches up with everyone.
